Questions & answers

How the site works, what changed when clubs moved onto the website, and what to do when something is not behaving.

For players

How do I log in?

Use your poker name and poker password — the same ones you sit down at the table with — on the account page. The site checks them against the poker room itself, so there is only one password to remember, not two. There is a “remember me” option if you would rather not type it each time.

I do not have an account yet

Either your club owner creates one for you, or you can create one yourself from the login page. An account you create yourself is not attached to any club, which means you cannot join any games with it until a club owner adds you. If you already know whose game you are joining, it is usually quicker to ask them.

Where do I actually play?

The poker room is at play.runpokergames.com. From your account page the Play button takes you straight there and signs you in, so you do not have to type your poker password a second time.

Why can I not see any games?

Games are private to a club. You see a club's games when you are a member of that club, and not otherwise. If you have an account but no games, you are not in a club yet — contact the host whose game you want to play in and ask them to add you.

Can I be in more than one club?

No. An account belongs to one club at a time. If you play in two different hosts' games you need one account per host, and they are separate accounts with separate balances. A club owner cannot add someone who is already in another club.

What is the difference between Club Balance and RPG Tokens?

Club BalanceThe chips you play with. Your club owner sets it, adds to it and takes from it. It cannot be transferred between players.
RPG TokensA second balance, separate from your chips, which can be transferred between players.

Neither balance is real money. It is play money, it has no cash value, and it is set and controlled by the host you signed up under. Know and trust your host, and know your own local laws about gambling.

Where is my hand history?

On your account page. Hands are collected from the poker room every 15 minutes, so a hand you have just played takes a few minutes to appear. History is kept for 180 days and then removed, which is the same length of time the poker room itself keeps it.

Why can I not see what other players were holding?

You see your own cards always. You see another player's cards only if they actually showed them — at a showdown, or by choosing to show. A hand that was won without a showdown stays hidden, because nobody at the table saw it either. Table chat is not included. Hand history tells you what you could have known at the time, not more.

Can I change my avatar?

Yes, from your account page. You can pick one of 64 built-in avatars, or upload your own image. Uploaded images are resized to 32×32 to match the built-in ones, and non-square images are fitted rather than squashed. Choosing a built-in does not delete an image you uploaded, so you can switch back to it later.

Can I change my email or password?

Both, from your account page. It is the same password you use in the poker room, so changing it here changes it there too — there is only one. Changing it also signs out any “remember me” sessions on other devices.

For club owners

Where do I run my club now?

On this website, from the Club and Games buttons on your account page. You no longer use the PokerMavens admin panel, and you no longer need the admin password.

What can I do from the club page?

Can the chip ledger be edited?

No, and that is deliberate. It is append-only. There is no edit and no delete, for anyone — club owners or site admin. A correction is a new entry, so the history of what happened to a player's chips stays intact.

How do I run my games?

From the Games page. You can create tournaments and ring games, edit their settings, take them offline and bring them back online, and delete ones you no longer want. A club can have up to 3 games at a time, counting tournaments and ring games together; ask the site admin if you need more.

Why can I only change some of the settings?

The games page exposes the settings hosts actually change — name, game type, seats, buy-in, chips, blinds, start time, late registration. Everything else, such as the blind structure, clocks and table rules, is inherited from your existing games so a new table behaves like the ones your players already know. If you need something the page does not offer, ask.

Why is there no password on my game any more?

Because your club permission does that job now, and does it better. See what changed below.

Can my club have more than one owner?

Yes. Co-owners can do everything the founding owner can, which is useful if you want someone to cover when you are away. Ask the site admin to add one.

What happens if my club is not paid up?

The club page locks. You and your players see the club name and a note asking you to contact the site admin, and nothing else — no member list, no balances, no ledger, and no changes can be made. It unlocks as soon as the account is settled. Your data is not deleted while a club is locked.

What changed, and why

Club owners used to have PokerMavens admin access

Hosts used to log into the poker room's own admin panel to create games and manage players. That has been replaced by the club pages on this website, and host admin access has been removed.

The reason is that the old arrangement gave every host the keys to the whole poker server, not just their own club. One admin panel, one password, and anyone holding it could see and change every host's games, every player and every balance. The club pages give each owner full control of their own club and no access at all to anyone else's.

Games are gated by permission, not by password

Games used to be protected by a shared password, handed round a group. Passwords spread — they get forwarded, posted in group chats, and remembered by people who have since left. Changing one meant telling everybody.

Now every game is tied to its club's permission. If you are in the club you can register and play; if you are not, you cannot, whatever you have been told. Removing someone from a club removes their access immediately, everywhere, without disturbing anyone else.

The poker room has a proper web address

The room is now at play.runpokergames.com, secured with a certificate, instead of a bare numeric address over an unencrypted connection. In practice that means your password and your play are encrypted in transit rather than readable by anything between you and the server.

If you have the old numeric address bookmarked, replace it. The old link may load a page but will not connect you to a table.

Accounts can no longer be created inside the poker room

The room's own sign-up has been switched off. Accounts are created by a club owner, or by a player on this website — where they are rate-limited, logged, and start with no club and no access to any game until an owner adds them. It means nobody appears at your tables without a host having put them there.

When something is wrong

The lobby loads but never connects

Almost always an old bookmark. Use play.runpokergames.com, and refresh the page fully if it has been open a while.

A hand I just played is not in my history

Give it 15 minutes. Hands are collected on a schedule rather than the instant they finish. If a hand is more than 180 days old it has been removed and will not come back.

My custom avatar is not showing in the poker room

Uploaded images have to be copied across to the poker server before they appear, which is not instant. If it has been a long while, contact the site admin.

I cannot register for a tournament

Check that you are in the club that runs it. Registration is limited to club members, so if you have recently been removed from a club, or you are using a second account that was never added, registration will refuse.

Something else

Send a message. It opens a conversation you can come back to, and replies appear in the same thread. Club owners should contact the site admin for anything to do with billing, co-owners, or raising the game limit; players should contact their own club owner first for anything about chips, accounts or games.
